My Favorite Scriptures for the Week

The book of Revelation has a grim prophecy about two prophets will be slain and left in the streets of Jerusalem (Revelation 11). Who will these prophets be

Joseph Smith asked the same question and received a revelation in D&C 77:115 (thank you Joseph!).

This verse clarified that it will be two prophets raised up “to” not necessarily “in” the Jewish nation to prophesy there in the last days.

These prophets will have power like Elijah and Nephi (source).

Bruce R. McConkie made a statement on this topic that was referenced in the 2002 D&C Student Manual. . . not exactly a confirmation of fact, but it gives some credence to what he said. So his opinion about these two prophets was that “. . . they will be members of the Council of the Twelve or of the First Presidency of the Church.” (Doctrinal New Testament Commentary, 3:509.)
