After leaving the Garden of Eden we zoom out to look at the whole human family which now includes the prophets Noah and Enoch.  One of the people in their family tree is Methusaleh who lived longer than anyone else in history!  He was 969 years old when he died– can you imagine?! (Genesis 5:27)  Poor Methusaleh was the ONE guy left behind when the City of Enoch was taken up into heaven.  Hey, someone had to keep the priesthood line going, right?! (Moses 8:2)

When Enoch was called to preach repentance he really didn’t want to, telling the Lord that he was just a “lad” who was slow of speech.  Well, guess what!  This “lad” was 65 years old! (Moses 6:31)

The amazing story of Enoch is totally missing from the Old Testament.  In the entire Old Testament all we hear about him is in Genesis 5:21-24, “And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah: And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.”  That’s it!  I am so grateful for the Pearl of Great Price where we get a fuller look at his amazing life.
