This Week's Reading: Moses 7
Come Follow Me Insight #1

(Moses 7:15) During the time of Enoch there were giants in the land. However, these are not the fairytale giants we picture. They’re just really tall, big people. Goliath (who we’ll meet later) was probably about 9’9 which is just over three feet taller than the average NBA player. That’s tall, but still not as big as a house the way we picture giants!
Come Follow Me Insight #2
(Moses 7:13-15) Even though Enoch was slow of speech God blessed him with so much power that he could move mountains and rivers. This terrified his enemies but, oddly enough, many of them still chose not to join the City of Enoch. Proof that seeing is NOT believing.

Come Follow Me Insight #3

(Moses 7:7-8) Enoch had a vision in which he saw some pretty awful things. One of those was that the Canaanites would commit what was likely the first-ever genocide by completely wiping out the people of Shum. Because of this, they were cursed to be despised by all people. The scriptures say that a “blackness” came upon them but I cannot say firmly enough that “blackness” was NOT the curse. It was simply a sign of the evil that had been perpetrated in that generation. Dark skin is not a curse and verses like this are not an excuse for racism! (See 2 Nephi 26:33) Sorry, I’m on a soapbox but I think this is so important to understand.
