1st and 2nd Thessalonians talk a lot about the Second Coming. So, who knows when the Second Coming will happen? Has the prophet been told? Do the angels know? 

The key to this answer is very simple: if you are not in the Godhead, then you do not know. The scriptures tell us, “The hour and the day no man knoweth, neither the angels in heaven, nor shall they know until he comes” (Doctrine and Covenants 49:7).

But there will be three REALLY big signs that the Second Coming is about to happen. Jesus will appear in three places:

1. For a great council at Adam-ondi-Ahman (see Daniel 7:9–10, 13–14; D&C 116).
2. To those in the New Jerusalem in America (see 3 Nephi 21:23–25; D&C 45:66–67).
3. To the Jews in Jerusalem (see D&C 45:48, 51–53; Zechariah 12:10; 14:2–5).
