Elder Renlund started his talk with an analogy about the human heart’s capacity to work under a stress test.
Many don’t know this but Elder Renlund was a cardiologist– a job that requires a MINIMUM of 13 years of education after high school.
This is such an amazing reminder to me that our General Authorities sacrifice so much to do the work they do– Elder Renlund could still be enjoying a successful career (and making LOTS of money) but is instead serving the Lord until the day he dies!
Elder Renlund made an important point in the middle of his talk. Contention has two devastating effects:
Elder Renlund pointed out that we can have peace without being a bunch of automatons.
He said that the people in the city of Zion were of one heart and mind– not because their ideas and opinions were all the same, but because they put their discipleship of Christ above everything else.
