3 Things to Know

Elder Clark G. Gilbert’s talk “Becoming More in Christ: The Parable of the Slope”

1. Something cool

Elder Clark G. Gilbert speaks at General Conference

Elder Gilbert was one of the original creators of the BYU Pathways program!  This program allows people from anywhere in the world to get a quality college degree at a low price.  Pretty cool, huh?

2. Something you might have missed

Near the end of his talk Elder Gilbert said that one of the reasons BYU Pathways is so successful is because “we teach them their divine potential. Imagine if your whole life, you were told you could never succeed. Then consider the impact of being taught that you are an actual son or daughter of God with divine possibility.”

3. Something you need to know

Elder Gilbert did math in his talk– it was a scary Conference moment, but it turned out fine. Whether you like math or not, this was an important principle it taught: where you start doesn’t matter nearly as much as where you’re headed.  Which invites the question: have you done as much as you could with the gifts you’ve been given?
