President Oaks emphasized that being a member of organized religion is powerful– no matter what that religion is! He emphasized that his definition of the word “church” included mosques and synagogues. I loved this spirit of inclusion.
President Oaks pointed out that both of the times Jesus was on the earth (in Jerusalem and in the Americas) He took the time to organize His people into a church. Elder Oaks pointed out that this is a testimony to us of the importance and power of organized religion.
President Oaks emphasized that church attendance strengthens us. But he also emphasized that we don’t simply attend church for ourselves. We go to actively serve and help others.
